Once again the cream of the bass angling (SOCIAL) fraternity gathered for the Annual Hawkesbury Nepean Bass Anglers Association (HNBAA) Inter-Club Challenge. The Clubs represented included HNBAA (of course), Southern Bass (Hard corps social), St George fishing club (The quiet achievers), Breakaway Bass (Cant pin them down to one spot) and a number of individual teams with just too much talent for any one club to hold.
As Usual the Friday briefing turned into an opportunity to scoff sausage sandwiches and catch up with old friends. Old lies (sorry stories) were told and once rule one was explained, HAVE FUN, the ladies and gents got on with some serious socializing and misleading statements about their intentions tomorrow (it may be social but there are some traditions that just have to be maintained). Eventually everyone turned in although the impromptu Roy Orbison retrospective kept us in anticipation of what was to follow.
Saturday started with a bang (eventually) and the teams headed off in accordance with their plans. “So what’s your plan John?” “I’m going to go out and catch more and bigger fish than anyone else!” “Good plan John that might just do it for you”. Needless to say a full day of fishing (6am to 5pm) left everyone with a store of good and bad luck stories to kick off the return to the social events on Saturday evening. The catered dinner was its usual success with even hardened eaters like myself having to turn down fourths and only making 3 trips back to the desert table. The monster raffle proved once again that there are winners and then there are WINNERS in this world and they shouldn’t be allowed to buy raffle tickets! Well done Gary and thanks for all your help and entertainment.
Sunday was everyone’s big chance to adjust their plans for the prevailing conditions. “What’s your new plan John?” “I’m going to follow that boat that got all the fish yesterday and do what he did!” “ Good plan John but you better hurry there are 10 boats in front of you!”. Sunday lunch saw the return of the happy hookers and the scoffing of a shed load more food. More good and bad luck stories were told and the end of another successful HNBAA Interclub Challenge was upon us.
The happy and deserving achievers are listed in the Recording Officer report.
Congratulations to all of you and well done. However special congratulations to everyone who attended and helped make for a fun and relaxed weekend where Fishing was the Winner. 2007’s gathering will be held as per this years and the last weekend in February is to be its home, unless some compelling reason comes up and makes us change it (a bridge to bridge for example). Finally a big thank you to all our sponsors and please let them know you appreciate their generosity when next you see them. See our advertisement in the April NSW Fishing Monthly for the full list of sponsors.
