6 diehards (Tony, Rod, Alan, Andrew, Trevor and I) turned up on the Friday night with the idea to wet a few lures. Rod was last to show and started to set his tent up. A few hours later that task was finished but not before we had a laughed and jeered him about how big his tent was for just 2 blokes and how long it had taken the 2 of them to set up. Eventually they joined the circle and the fi shing seemed to be push to the back of our minds and telling fishing stories took over.
Rissoles were on the menu for dinner so we fired up the BBQ and arranged our feast, no sooner was it cooked when the heavens opened up and we were quickly apologizing to Rod, as that big tent all of a sudden became a popular place to hang out. It was quite a sight with 6 blokes all tucked in under the awning enjoying a few trying to keep out of the rain.
The Saturday morning alarm clock (at 5:30) was Rod yelling at us to get up and have some bacon and eggs.

I think there was some singing too, Rod please I beg you no singing! We weren’t all to keen at first but once those bacon and eggs were cooking and that smell wafted through my swag it wasn’t long before I was in line. Tony and Alan went down steam and did fairly well bringing in these nice fish for there efforts. Rod, Trevor Andrew and I all went up and fished the rock walls but could even manage a single fish.

Back at camp by 12.30pm for some lunch and yep, you guessed it rissoles, yaaaah! We all sat and relaxed for the afternoon. The crowed began to build with many boats and families turning up in the afternoon, all were keen and eager to relax and enjoy each others company and show off there latest bit of fishing tackle. Rod, Trevor Andrew and I all went up and fished the rock walls but could even manage a single Dinners up!! Get em while there hot, yep rissoles mmmnn my favourite! We all enjoyed the comfort of the fire and went to bed early ready to get amongst em in the morning.

Andrew and I left right on 6am and went all the way up to the Terraces’ as I have been have some luck there of recent times. The trip was cold and foggy but worth it as I managed to boat 7 fish unfortunately only 1 over 300mm. The beetle spin seemed to be the lure of the moment up there accounting for 5 out of the 7. Unfortunately Andrew just couldn’t take a trick and was not able to get a fish. We made a quick dash back down stream coming across a boat which I thick had Haines Hunter written on the side it was a bit of a blur as it went past at warp 9! Later I found out they were on a mission to get ice creams from Windsor (you got keep your crew happy!).
Scott did well landing a full bag and decided the best way to get back to the ramp was to have Rod tow his Kayak. Good idea till the smiles and laughter and the calls of faster from Scott quickly turned into a barrel roll at near planning speed. There was a desperate grab for the Loomis in the rod holder which was only saved by the fishing line! Scotty was fine with just his cloths and pride at bit on the damp side.

Trolling down deep seemed to be the order of the day as explain by the Bass Boys who did quite well bring in a full bag of 30 + fish. Congratulations guys and to all those who fished. Once again a fabulous weekend put on by the HNBAA. I must say as a new comer to the club I would like to thank everyone that has made Andrew and I feel welcome. I look forward to the next comp / weekend.
Cheers Joel Price
